Bali

Included with our tour of the two temples in Yogyakarta was a van ride to Mount Bromo, a night's stay there, then transport to Sanur, Bali. All this included at one very decent price. That got Jen and I pretty excited, maybe too excited. What I mean by that is we didn't sit down to calculate the actual length of this trip. Mount Bromo was nice but the weather ended up spoiling most of the view, so that was a shame and when it was all said and done we spent approximately 30 hours traveling to reach our final destination of Sanur. With bus, van, ferry, jeep, and even horse, we definitely got a good taste of Indonesian travel.

We then spent a week and a half exploring Bali. With stops in Sanur, Kuta, Ubud, candidasa and quick trips around the Eastern and Northern parts of the island we got a pretty good taste of what Bali had to offer. Ubud was our favorite place with a charm that makes it tough to leave and it's obvious why so many ex-pats haven't. We didn't spend nearly as much time there as we both would have liked but it was a memorable time and a possible reason to one day return to Indonesia. Bali as a whole was an amazing place full of life, adventure and beauty. It was a hard place to leave, going to The Gili's makes it easy to recover and move on....

FYI: you have to wear sarongs to enter a temple.
